A report in 2010 indicated that an estimated 27,900 people in Uganda are killed by TB each year ranking the country at 18th of the most affected 22 countries in the world. About 100.000 people get infected with TB annually. In 2007, the World Health Organisation (WHO) asked the Ministry of Health to declare a national emergency due to the increasing TB infections.
i am a graduate of medicine from the philippines and having my board exam nxt yr.. i appreciate your blog on TB. here in our country Tb is very common since we are also a third world country infectious disease is still a dilemma. But the things is it is curable though treatment may take a long time since the bacteria itself is a slow growing owing for it for a long treatment. Just a proper awareness of TB and continuous medication under a good surveillance. TB wont be a epidemic anymore.
